Sketches

These are some quick sketches I produce day to day.
I do alot of observational drawings around my home, and I find it interesting to look closely at objects and study the lines that make up these everyday items.
My drawings sometimes appear quite crude as I always draw quickly.

Sketchbook Work 07-08

Ivor Cutler was a subject of a short illustration project over summer, I focused on illustrating two of his poems/songs, 'Baby Sits' and 'Old Oak Tree'.

'Baby Sits' is a song about a child who is neglected by his/her parents, it is a classic Cutler song and is both bizarre and moving.


I was particularly interested in the way Ivor's songs were on the face jolly and comedic but hid a dark meaning behind the jokes.


Throughout the year i was also interested a lot in sleep, in dreams and the protection we can feel while under the covers.
