Sketchbook studies

I have recently been looking at the work of Samuel Palmer and was inspired to create these sketches to try out a simple but stylised way of working.

Israfel 1

"If I could dwell
Where Israfel
Hath dwelt, and he where I,
He might not sing so wildly well
A mortal melody,
While a bolder note than this might swell
From my lyre within the sky."

'Israfel' - Edgar Allen Poe

An all to rare foray into sculpture, I tried to depict Israfel's failure in being able to sing having known a mortal life.
